Mary Herber Davies

I was brought up in Perthshire, Scotland.

From childhood I was encouraged to be creative and to appreciate beauty in many different forms. I often spent days painting with my Mother who was an artist.

At school Art became a passion and later I studied at the Inchbald School of Design in London. While I was still single I worked in London in Interior Decorating and then started my own Antique Upholstery business.

During the years of bring up the children I had a small picture framing business and studied art privately. I also attended various painting courses while also studying personal and Christian counselling. I then studied Art therapy at Shrewsbury College which brought my painting and counselling skills together.

I worked in Art Therapy for three years in a Drug and Alcohol rehab and a short time at The Hamar Help and Support Centre at Shrewsbury Hospital.

I have been painting for about 32 years mainly in water colour and acrylics.

Over that time I have painted with different groups. I have Exhibited in different parts of Shropshire and Scotland on my own and with other artists and in local exhibitions.

I have run Creative Art workshops in different mediums. Beginners painting courses in watercolour. Two years ago I started a Christian Prophetic Art group in Wellington, Shropshire.

Apart from the love of painting for myself, I love to teach and help others learn and develop their own skills in this Art form.
